The ΔtolA, ΔtolB, and ΔtolR strains grew in chains of coccobacilli (red arrow). b Morphology characteristics of C78-3 and three mutants were evaluated by TEM. C78-3 was rod-shaped and presented long flagella (blue arrow). The ΔtolA, ΔtolB, and ΔtolR strains showed an altered morphology with long chains and formed vesicles at the cell surface (red arrow), while some mutants were severely damaged in their cell morphology (green arrow)
