The main component of the extracellular matrix of the HE01 biofilm is protein, and diacerein decreases the production of extracellular proteins. After treating mature biofilms with proteinase K, DNase I, and sodium periodate, absorbance at OD570 nm was measured to evaluate residual biofilm (a). Extracellular proteins of stains ware detected by the change in green fluorescence, using intracellular DNA red fluorescence as internal reference. Compared with the control (b), the extracellular green fluorescence of E. faecalis was significantly reduced after treatment with diacerein (c)
