A schematic diagram highlighted the mechanism of polysaccharide extracted from Pleurotus ostreatus inducing apoptosis via up-regulation of pro-apoptotic genes and downregulation of anti-apoptotic genes in vitro and explaining how this polysaccharide upon administration enhances the immune response in cancer acquired mice and promotes the secretion of cytokines and regulation of Foxp3 and Stat3 increase survival time and decrease the chances of disease re-occurrence
