Shake flask cultivation of E. coli W3110 (left) and W3110 ΔFadR (right) on a VFA-rich anaerobic digest of food residues supplemented with minimal medium salts (MM) at pH 7.0, 37 °C. To assess the tolerance of the strains, the anaerobic digest was supplied in concentration increments between 10–90% (v/v) diluted with water, with constant MM concentration.
