Antimicrobial effect of BLIP with ampicillin on β-lactamase-producing B. subtilis. A strain of B. subtilis haboring pYCL18 was cultivated in LB broth at 37 °C with shaking at 280 rpm in the presence of: (1) 2.5 μM BLIP; (2) 100 μg/mL ampicillin; (3) 2.5 μM BLIP and 100 μg/mL ampicillin; and (4) 2.5 μM BLIP and 5 μg/mL chloramphenicol. The bacterial growth of the cultures was monitored by OD₆₀₀ at time intervals of 9 and 18 h. The experiment was repeated in duplicate
