Effect of glutamine on PP-V production. Penicillium purpurogenum IAM15392 was grown in 500-mL Erlenmeyer flasks containing 100 mL basal medium or glutamine medium (f.c. 1 or 10 mM l-glutamine) for 72–96 h at 30 °C with shaking at 200 rpm. For TLC, the culture broth, and PP-O and glutamine reaction solution obtained in vitro were centrifuged (1600×g, 4 °C, 15 min). The pigment in the supernatant was extracted with EtOAc. Pigments were detected by TLC using a silica gel 60 plate with developing solvent mixture n-BuOH: AcOH: H₂O (12:3:5)
