Acyl-ACP synthetase activity assays of AAE15 expressed in insect cells. Crude extracts of Sf9 cells (a), and purified AAE15 (b) were incubated with an assay mixture containing ACP, ATP and [1-¹⁴C] fatty acids for 30 min, at 37 °C. As control cells infected with the empty vector were used. AAE15 lacks the predicted plastidial targeting signal. Each measurement was performed in triplicate. Error bars indicate standard deviation
