(A) Assessment of the transcriptional activity of aphII in S. Lividans driven by the promoters highlighted in bold in Figure 1 and the control plasmids, pIJ487 and pIJ487ermE* , using RT-PCR. Clones were ordered from the left to the right according to increasing promoter strength. (B) Quantification of the RT-PCR signals was made using ImageQuant pixel counts in non-saturated conditions. Values were normalized on pIJ487 signals. Survival rates corresponding to each clone are indicated above each histogram.
