Effect of glucose concentrations on hydrolysis of sucrose. Cells grown in YPD medium at 30°C for 18 h were inoculated into sequential batch culture, which was conducted in 300-ml Erlenmeyer flask containing 100 ml of YP medium supplemented with a mixture of 2% sucrose (Suc), and various concentrations of glucose (Glc) as indicated. Cultivations of K. marxianus (a) and S. cerevisiae (b) were continued further at 30°C under a static condition as time indicated. The patterns of sucrose hydrolysis at different glucose concentrations were summarized (c). Initial OD660 was adjusted to 1.0. Bars represent the ±SD for three independent experiments.
