Effect of 2-DOG on utilization of sucrose, raffinose or inulin. Cells were grown in YPD medium to about 107 cells/ml, aliquots of 10-fold culture dilutions of cells were spotted onto agar plates containing YP medium supplemented with 2% fructose (YPFrt), 2% sucrose (YPSuc), 2% raffinose (YPRaf) or 2% inulin (YPInu) in the presence (+) or absence (-) of 0.01% 2-DOG, and the plates were incubated at 30°C (a) or 45°C (b) for 3 days. Galactose (Gal) was included as a positive control. S. cerevisiae was used as a reference strain for glucose repression (c).
